The Year of Consecrated Life

Last fall when we learned that contemplatives were also invited to participate in a special program of activities organized by CIVCSVA for the conclusion of the Closing of the Year of Consecrated Life on the 2nd of February 2016, to the great surprise of contemplative nuns, we were invited to participate! In Rome! Each Federation or Association was invited to send their President and a companion

General Chapter - Thursday, May 21

Today was One Big Happy Family of Carmel Day.  Representatives of the wide world of Carmel, its many hybrids and subspecies--which is to say, all the affiliated congregations and groups of associated laity that stake their claim to a patch of ground in the garden of Carmel--joined us in the hall, each being given their moment or two (or three)

This morning the chapter sat through a rather detailed report on the finances of what is called "the Center of the Order," which is to say, the General House and its various dependencies.

General Chapter - Sunday, May 3

The Chapter began this evening, a day late, but not a dollar (or 0.83 euro) short. All had arrived, about 100 in all, from all parts of the globe--India (quite a few), the Philippines, Singapore, Japan, Israel, Africa (east, west, north, south), and even 2 from Texas, to name a few. Assigned rooms, and having unpacked and settled in for the long
