Discalced Carmelite Friars

Province of St. Therese

OCDS Central

Abide, ABIDE–

The tide of grace

Flows fully in the space

Freshly opened by the crushing

of your heart.

A part of you has died.

Now, springs from His side

The new life that shines more widely

than the death endured.

Moored in Jesus, anchored

So deeply, abide, that the waves crash, but

Do not crush the hidden seed of

His responding to your seeking.

It was always first His voice that you had heard,

But only now after the silence,

His appearing is a surprise that thrills

More than if the dying had not occurred.

His is a MYSTERY  of

Mercy ever more revealed

With each birth of His WORD –

Taken to heart, then poured out to souls in the thirsty field.
